About
Michigan-based
jewelry designer and
University of Michigan graduate,
Victoria Gould
had artistic passion early in life. As a child,
Victoria could always be found with pencil and paper; and when she ran out
of paper, the white walls of her parents’ house worked wonderfully. She
studied art for several years at the
Carnegie Mellon Art Museum
in Pittsburgh , PA and
in high school, was the President of the National Art Honor Society.
Victoria has worked in many mediums, but has found
jewelry design and
creation to be the most fulfilling. Her wire work – clean simple lines
forming elegant,
intricate designs – are amazing pieces of art women love to wear.
She also creates tutorials to teach wire techniques to others.
I started out in jewelry because my
daughter Stephanie (who was 10 at the time) wanted a fun mom and daughter
activity. We began stringing beads and did our first show about 3 week
afterwards. As things progressed, I found that I had a love for wire
and twisting it. My favorite gemstones are mystic topaz, apatite,
garnet and pearls. Tiny facets all over gemstones bring shimmering
lights to my work. I'm drawn to the briolette or teardrop shapes and
you'll see them in many of my pieces. I have also grown to love
lampwork glass and have begun to torch rods of glass myself to make these
beads.
